If our interests during COVID-19 have highlighted anything, it’s our innate need to create.

Whether that’s baking banana bread, becoming plant parents or making DIY face masks, we’ve clearly missed the warm and fuzzies we get from owning items made with love.

For those who appreciate one-of-a-kind artisan goods – and the smart arty folk who make and curate them, the great news is the Valley Laneway Markets are back, baby!

From Saturday 4 July, the Valley Laneway Markets will operate on the first Saturday of every month from 9am to 2pm, taking over Bakery Lane, California Lane and Winn Lane and expanding to other areas of the Valley. Market-goers can expect a selection of regular stalls plus a rotating roster of new stallholders showcasing their treasures as well.

Stallholders have been spending the Valley Laneway Markets hiatus busily designing, creating, sewing, painting, hand-pouring and growing an array of handmade must-haves that span plants, ceramics, homewares and art plus vintage and retro wares – perfect for your post-iso wardrobe or tzujing up your WFH space.

There will also be enhanced health and safety measures in place according to government guidelines, including social distancing between stalls, provision of hand sanitiser and controlled visitor numbers.

What hasn’t changed is the emphasis on quality, innovation and fresh designs at these carefully curated markets that include the fantastic indie retailers and cafes of Lanes Fortitude Valley so you can really make a day of it.

Dogs are always welcome and live music will soundtrack your market shopping while supporting local artists who are without a venue to play at.

From September, the Valley Laneway Markets will expand from the Lanes Fortitude Valley into the Brunswick Street Mall to offer extended stalls and live entertainment for your browsing pleasure.
