Struggling to get gift-ready? We’ve got you covered.

We can’t believe we’re saying it either, but the year is coming to a close and silly season is upon us! With so much to see and do at Christmas time, we know how hard it is to strike a balance between enjoying all Brisbane has to offer while whittling down that gift list. Lucky for you, we have just the solution!

Boasting events, markets and gift opportunities galore, Fortitude Valley is the perfect daytime hot spot to help you win at Christmas this year (while squeezing in a cheeky cocktail or some yummy dumplings perhaps). With CityCycle stations scattered throughout the area, it’s also never been easier to move through the different hubs the Valley has to offer! Try our tips below for getting gift-ready for Christmas, and actually enjoying it.

Green gifts and guitars

We all know the feeling....you’ve hesitantly agreed to join the work secret Santa and you’ve got Karen from accounting, who you know nothing about. Well fear not, because the Valley has gift options that will make you an instant office winner, without breaking the bank.

Wander down Bakery Lane to the beautiful Botanical Lab where you can pick up some gorgeous flowers or homewares perfect for an office desk! Or support your local small artists and shop sustainably this year by picking up local handmade jewellery, ceramics or accessories from the Institute of Modern Art.

Another great option to kick off your Christmas cheer is to pop down to The Lanes Plant and Homewares Market! Kicking off at 9am on 16 November, get in early this year and discover all that the Valley’s Bakery, Winn and California Lanes have to offer with plants, flowers, ceramics, candles and homewares all on offer for the perfect Christmas gift.

Between buys in the laneways, make sure you check out the Valley Fiesta Spring Summer program, which brings live music to Brunswick Street Mall from 1pm to 7pm on the first Saturday of every month! It’s just one of the ways we’re creating more to see and in Brisbane’s beautiful climate.

Vouchers and vintage gems

If you have someone on your Christmas present list that has you completely stumped, a gift voucher is your answer. From a delectable dining experience at Little Valley, to fun summer printed shirts from YP Threads, a voucher will take the stress out of gift-giving this year so you can spend more time doing what you love this silly season. For the old-school groovers on your gift list, why not head to Phase 4 where you can pick up quirky vintage gems from cassettes, rare vinyls and other music memorabilia.

Boutiques and brunch

With so many amazing boutique options in the trendy Fortitude Valley precinct, our top tip is to support your own! From feminine florals at Alice Nightingale to statement pieces from Bella Joan, there’s something for everyone at these Brissie born and bred labels.

The next local hot spot you should check out to reward yourself for all the gift-buying? A weekend brunch spot of course. Grab a friend and wander down to Beirne Lane where they’ll be hosting bottomless brunch every Sunday with champagne, DJs and all of your favourite brunch bites. After all, Christmas shopping is supposed to be fun, right?
