Let’s face it, most of our New Year’s resolutions sound something like “eat better, save more and drink less”.

While we can’t help with the latter, we’ve definitely got you covered with the ultimate round-up of the Valley’s best BYO eats to help you eat better, save more and *ahem* drink more… responsibly!

First up on the purse-friendly front is Enjoy Inn.
One of the oldest restaurants in Chinatown, Enjoy Inn is one of the Valley’s perpetual favourite BYO spots. A real family affair, Enjoy Inn caters for big groups as well as smaller tables for two.

Next up, The Vietnamese
This family-owned gem on Wickham Terrace is an institution. Famous for its fresh flavours and locally sourced produce, the mouth-watering menu conjures an exotic culinary adventure that belies its humble surrounds. Pair with prosecco and pals and you’re all set for a brilliant long lunch or dinner that won’t break the bank.

Feel like going a little bit glam? Get to Giardinetto.
Grab your favourite chianti and head up Brunswick Street for bowls of authentic Italian eats at Giardinetto. This traditional trattoria is the perfect place to cosy up and swap stories over bottles of BYO wine, spaghetti marinara and fresh mushroom risotto. After all, more carbs mean more energy for dancing.

Tingle the tastebuds at Thai Wi Rat.
Piles of pad thai, mountains of massaman beef curry and tonnes of steamin’ hot tom yum – it can only be Thai Wi Rat. Conveniently located in Brunswick Street Mall, you’ll need to resist the urge to fill up on too many spring rolls and fish cakes before your curry arrives – trust us.

Up your dumpling game at Fat Dumpling.
We’ve got dumpling to tell you and you’re definitely going to like it – Fat Dumpling is BYO wine! Stuff your face with steamed pork and cabbage dumplings, shallot pancakes and sweet sauce braised pork belly. Add a serve of chilli and garlic green beans and cold cucumber salad to get your two and five alongside your favourite bottle of BYO wine.

Tech meets tasty treats at Wagaya.
The booths make it feel like fine dining but the touch screens and BYO make this adorably authentic Japanese eatery an absolute treat. Resist the urge to press every button at once and get your hands on sashimi, sukiyaki, rich ramen and grilled skewers. BYO sake recommended.

A Super Bowl even more impressive than the once-a-year-mega-US-football-game.
Super Bowl remains one of the few OG BYO joints still kicking around the Valley. Assemble the troops and descend on this Chinatown restaurant armed with bottles of chardonnay and hungry bellies. Order up big on special fried rice, steamed Chinese greens and mapo tofu and spin the lazy Susan to get your fill, without a football or advert in sight.

Get the gang together at Golden Palace.
Banquets are boss at Golden Palace in Chinatown Mall with two kitchen teams whipping up feasts fit for friends and families of all sizes. Grab your besties and your bottles of wine and prepare to chow down on the likes of Peking duck, fresh seafood plucked from the tank, buns, dumplings and sizzling hot pots. Golden Palace also serves gluten-free Chinese food as well as vegetarian specials.
